Eternal Life and The Second Death

You are not born with eternal life.

Many churches teach that unsaved sinners live in hell fire forever. This is not true. This would be eternal life and no one has eternal life except true Christians.

Eternal life is our hope.

Titus 1:1-2

1 “Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;”

2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”

Jesus gave His life for the sins of all mankind and whosoever believes in Jesus Christ should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The word perish here means the opposite of eternal life which would be eternal death. Eternal death is the second death from which there is no resurrection.

In John 6:66-67 many of Jesus’ disciples left Him and He asked the twelve if they were leaving Him also. Peter answered Him in John 6:68-69.

John 6:68-69

68 “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”

69 “And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

In Matthew 19:16 the man asked Jesus what he should do that he would have eternal life.

Matthew 19:16, “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

Eternal life is not possible without Jesus Christ.

Adam brought the death penalty upon all mankind. Everyone is born in sin inherited from Adam and the wages of sin is death. If Jesus had not died to pay for our sins, then there would not be a resurrection for us. We would be eternally dead.

Satan is telling the world through many of today’s churches that people are born with eternal life. This is not so.

Only those who endure to the end with God’s Holy Spirit in them will have eternal life.

It is appointed for all men to die once and after this the judgment.

Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

The second death is mentioned in Revelation 2:11, 20:5-6, 13-14, and Revelation 21:8.

Revelation 2:11, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”

Revelation 20:5-6

5 “But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.”

6 “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

Revelation 20:13-14

13 “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”

14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving , and the abominable and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The second death is eternal death from which there is no resurrection.

At sometime in the future we will all have either eternal life or eternal death.

Matthew 25:46, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

At the judgement the ones who do not believe in Jesus Christ and the ones who will not have Jesus rule over them will go to the second death.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Luke 19:27, ” But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”

The second death is described in Malachi 4:1-3, II Peter 2:12-17, and Jude 11-13.

Malachi 4:1-3

1 “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”

2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

3 “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.”

II Peter 2:12-17

12 “But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;”

13 “And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;”

14 “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:”

15 “Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;”

16 “But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.”

17 “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.”

Jude 11-13

11 “Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.”

12 “These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;”

13 “Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.”

Some religions do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. There is no eternal life without Jesus Christ.

Some churches teach that if you go to hell you have eternal life there.

Some churches teach that hell is separation from Jesus Christ. Purgatory is also taught.

All these things are untrue.

Eternal life is a gift from God.

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Satan has deceived the whole world by peoples religions.

Revelation 12:9, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”.
